Overview Of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit To Bihar And JharkhandI

On 17th February 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar where he inaugurated and laid down foundation stones for several development and infrastructure projects worth Rs 33,000 crore at Barauni in Begusarai district, Bihar. He later visited Jharkhand to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various development schemes at Hazaribagh and Ranchi.

PM Modi laid foundation stone for Patna Metro Rail
Foundation stone for the Patna Metro Rail Project was laid down by PM Narendra Modi, which is worth more than Rs 13,000 crore (estimated cost Rs 13,365.77crore) and will be completed in the next 5 years. The project will benefit about 27 lakh people of the state.



  • The Patna Metro Railway Project will have 2 corridors covering an area of about 32 km.
  • The 1st corridor will be a stretch of 94 km while the 2nd corridor will be 14.45 km.
  • The 1st corridor, Danapur Cantonment to Mithapur, will pass through the heart of the city and connect densely populated central areas like Raza Bazar, the Secretariat, the High Court and the Law University Railway Station.
  • 1st corridor will consist of 11 stations, out of which 8 will be underground and 3 elevated.
  • The 2nd corridor, Patna Junction to New ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal), will connect Gandhi MaidanPMCHPatna University, Rajendra NagarMahatma Gandhi SetuTransport Nagar and ISBT.
  • In the 2nd corridor, 12 stations will be present, of which 3 would be underground and 9 would be elevated.
  • Multimodal Integration with Railway Stations and ISBT Station and feeder network of Bus, Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) and Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) will also be present along with the approved corridors.

First phase of River Front Development and Patna City Gas Distribution Project inaugurated by PM Modi
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the River Front Development at Patna and the Patna City Gas Distribution Project(CGD).

  • Patna River Front, unveiled by the PM,includes 16 ghats, 1 crematorium, 4.9 km promenade, community-cum-cultural centre, audio-visual theatre and eco centre build at a cost of 243.27 crore.
  • He inaugurated the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Patna and first phase of the Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline Project (JHBDPL), popularly known as ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga‘.
  • The foundation stone of Phase 1 of ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga‘ had been laid by the Prime Minister in July 2015 in Patna and the section from Phulpur – Dobhi – Barauni with spurlines to Patna&Varanasi of length 585 km has been completed.

The PM inaugurated the newly constructed building at the Women’s Engineering College in Ramgarh

  • He inaugurated one Rural Water Supply scheme for Ramgarh and three for Hazaribagh.
  • The Sahibganj Sewerage Treatment plant and “Madhusudan Ghat” under ‘Namami Gange – National Mission for Clean Ganga’ programme were also inaugurated.
  • The prime minister laid the foundation stone for 2,718 Piped Water Supply schemes for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups and a Tribal Studies Centre at the Hazaribagh-based Acharya Vinoba Bhave University.
  • Foundation stone for 4 hospitals of 500 beds in HazaribaghDumka and Palamau was laid down.
  • At Ranchi, the PM interacted with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana – Ayushman Bharat.
